The family business began with the late Elias Bauernfreund in the 1940's. Elias started out as a diamond cutter and polisher and, after honing his skills on the bench and acquiring his expertise, he began buying and selling his own goods. His reputation for honesty and expertise was unrivaled

In 1974 Joshua Shalev, Elias Bauernfreund's son-in-law, entered the business and learned the trade.

Joshua Shalev has 30 years experience of working both in Israel and the UK and, uniquely, understands both these markets well. In the tradition of his father-in-law, he too has built a reputation for honesty and professionalism.

In 2003 Jacob Shalev, Joshua Shalev's son, entered the trade and built this website in order to bring the business into line with the 21st Century.
